The Resignation and Legacy of Eric Holder

Last week, Eric Holder announced his resignation.

Good riddance.

I won't prattle on about Holder being the worst attorney general in our lifetime (ever?). Instead I'll end this post with an image that sums up Holder's legacy quite nicely:

Woman Beheaded in OK--"Nothing to Do With Islam"

While the US and a handful of allies have been dropping bombs and firing-off Tomahawk missiles at ISIS locales; this past Friday, saw an outbreak of "workplace violence" when a woman in Moore, OK, was beheaded by her former coworker

Another woman was stabbed, and the suspect, who was shot by the plant manager, was interviewed by police the following day

While the FBI is "trying to determine the motive," the usual hue & cry has erupted from the multiculti crowd bleating that the homegrown beheading has nothing to do with Islam

Strategic Goal Against ISIS vs Likely Outcome

Mr. Catalino's cartoon shown above is what I'd like to see happen to the ISIS head hackers.

However, with a president and secretary of state tap dancing around the ISIS issue, I'm afraid the outcome will look more like this:

Out of Step Strategy

While Congress approved Obama's plan to arm Syrian rebels against ISIS, we're still a ways off at presenting a unified front against the current batch of head hackers.

Meanwhile, on the Overseas Contingency Operation Homefront, ISIS is urging "lone wolves" to target US soldiers

This of course, is possible because we're letting in the wrong refugees

The Clinton Commonality

Remember Hillary's outrageous "we were dead broke after leaving the White House" comment?

Well apparently, the woman non-FOX News newsrooms everywhere want to see as our next Dearest Leader, has a lot in common with many of her poor little rich Liberal pals.

None of these people have anything in common with the common folks.

England/Scotland Split Averted--For Now

Earlier today 55% of Scotsmen & lasses voted to remain part of the United Kingdom.

So Britain is still Great, but for how much longer?

Maybe not much longer, especially since political upheaval after the Scottish vote.

Other commentators, like The Diplomad and Mark Steyn also have a pessimistic outlook for the continuation of a United Kingdom.

Despite my deep Celtophile feelings, I'm glad the United Kingdom is still united, despite the troubles that may lay ahead.  America needs allies in a world that's becoming increasingly unstable.  Great Britain has been our closest ally for nearly three generations.  A fractured UK could be a crippling blow to our foreign and military affairs efforts.

Provided that is, we don't cripple our own efforts first.

Because here, on this side of the Atlantic, Obama's "Iraqization" of America is still going great guns--and will be for the next two years...

Head Hackers in the Land Down Under

ISIS isn't just a regional threat, especially when hundreds of jihadis hold western passports.  Sixty, or more, are even citizens of the Land Down Under.

Early yesterday, Australian law enforcement agencies conducted raids against extremists planning to conduct random killings--by beheadings--against random citizens

So far, 15 have been arrested.

This story generated a few short comments among my friends:

I suspect this will happen here [in the US] soon enough...

When confronted, Jeh Johnson (DHS secretary) went “oh, yeah, well maybe that happened or something” after initially claiming that he wasn’t aware of anything like that.
We are so screwed.

Pretty certain we'll be seeing this in our homeland soon enough. Just hope we're able to get (and keep) ahead of it.

If we are allowed to.  When senior DHS “leadership” seem bent on ignoring the problem, one has to wonder.

One wonders indeed, especially when leadership experience is limited to community organizing.

Obama's Difficulty with the "W" Word

Our Dear Leader has a problem with the "W" Word.

No, not "W" as in "Dubya," Former President Bush the Younger.  "Bush" rolls off Obama's tongue readily enough, when it comes to blaming someone for the current sad state of affairs.

I'm talking about the "Big W," as in "war."  Obama thinks it's best not to mention it, as if ignoring it will make it go away.

Best to put boots on the ground in Liberia to combat Ebola

As a result of not facing up to the reality ISIS, our military given an impossible mission, especially since willing allies are hard to find

Not acting decisively will certainly prolong the Overseas Contingency Operation Against Terrorism.

Madam President's Profile?

I've had minimal contact through the internet again for the past five days, but I've noticed Team Obama is still spinning its wheels over ISIS, and immigration reform has been conveniently postponed until after the November Elections.

The elections will be the beginning of the midpoint of Obama's Second Term.

Hillary Clinton's Maybe-I-Am/Maybe-I'm-Not Running in 2016 has already taken off in Iowa.

What kind of President will Hillary make?

If the past is any indication, we may be looking at (another) profile in failure.

Iraq Not-Quite-A-War III?

A few days ago, Our Dear Leader gave a speech promising a sustained effort to rout the ISIS militants.

I didn't watch the speech and for the past couple of days, I haven't been on-line long enough to read and comment about it.  I figured if Obama had said anything worthwhile, like "...we shall fight on the beaches..." I would have caught it during my cursory glances.

From what I'm reading now, the ISIS Speech seems like a typical PC-laden snoozer.

Although, Comrade Karla is hopping made about about this NYT tidbit:

I was upset when I read this line:  "Unlike Mr. Bush in the Iraq war, Mr. Obama has sought to surround the United States with partners."
WTF?!?!?!  Bush 41 had 80+ partners in the war.  Bush 43 had something like two dozen commit ground forces.  Obama has Saudi, UAE...and some crickets.
This is the sort of horribly biased reporting that drives me nuts.

Yeah, it drives me nuts too Comrade.  I've had personal dealings with folks who believe the Big Lie 'bout Cowboy Dubya "goin' alone" in Iraq.

Obama might not believe ISIS is Islamic, but Greg Gutfeld reminds us what the "I" in ISIS stands for.

Finally, it's easy to be cynical about this, since we've Obama's been lying about the situation in Iraq for years, while most, if not all, us like-minded folks saw Iraq imploding once we pulled out en mass.

Speeches vs Orcs with a Strategy

The orcs are outside the ramparts, causing death and destruction with near impunity, minus the occasional air strike.

Presidents come & go, but the jihadists' plan is forever

Our Dear Leader seems incapable of upholding America's honor in a dangerous world.

Which leaves us with the disturbing question of:  Can we survive a feckless, egotistic president afraid to lead?

IRSgate Saga Continues: More "Lost" E-mails

Surprise: IRS "loses" e-mails of five more employees connected to targeting investigation.

Well, here's someone who isn't surprised, along with every non-leftist in the nation.

The bold-faced lies of this non-phony scandal--not to mention all the other ones--completely disgust me.

I never want to hear how bad Watergate was ever again.

If the Golf Shoe Fits...

Our Dear Leader claims he's "...not good at theater."  So Obama has reluctantly admitted that zipping-off to play some golf after mouthing some appropriate words to Foley's family, maybe, just maybe, sent the wrong message.

With the parts of the world in flames, Our Dear Leader would like nothing more than to take a "...a vacation from the press."

Yeah, it was all fun & games on the '08 & '12 Campaign Trails.  Now some of the upstart natives are getting restless and want our Exalted One to actually do something.

Obama's is scheduled to discuss the ISIS issue with Congress tomorrow, then give a press conference sometime on Wednesday (10 September 2014).

I'm not optimistic anything will be done, especially with a Golfer-in-Chief who likes to use words such as "exit strategy," "lead from behind," "contain," "manage," etc., when it comes to confronting evil.

Putin is already "kicking sand in Obama's face."

I think Obama may be too busy to notice...

Some Brit Jihadists Want to Come Home

Apparently, going on jihad with ISIS isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Some 30 or so Brit-grown jihadists have "...grown disenchanted with their adventure."

What irks me, to say the least, about this article isn't the fact that a handful of jihadists want to quit the field, but it's sympathetic tone.

These guys aren't mischievous boys who snuck out of their boarding school for a night on the town.

In pre-PC days they'd be branded enemies of the crown.

Big Clubs Make Better Deterrence

Victor Davis Hanson ("VDH") provides us with this succinct, yet thoughtful reflection on War--past, present and future.

Obama seems reluctant to use "big clubs" against our nations enemies, except for political/social ones like FOX News

Now he's trying to play tough-talk catch-up.

Where Are They Now?

Normally, the question "where are they now?" refers to young actors/performers who've dropped out of the limelight once their gig is over.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case here.

Thousands of foreign students have overstayed their visas--and can't be located.

Meanwhile, outside the crumbling Ramparts of Civilization, nearly a dozen jet liners are missing from Tripoli's airport

These stories, along with a former CIA operative's assessment that ISIS minions are already in the US, are harbingers of worrisome times ahead.

"Managing" ISIS

Our not-so-tough talking Golfer-in-Chief wants to shrink ISIS into a manageable problem.

I'm sure this worries the head-hackers as much as our hashtags do.  Especially since our own State Department can't figure out if they've revoked the passports of Americans who've joined the ISIS ranks.

Our Dear Leader's dawdling about ISIS is far different than his actions to spring deserter Bergdahl.

So us like-minded folks are left wondering  "...at what point does reality trump Obama's ideology."

Protestors Block Oil Trains

With the Keystone Pipeline in limbo, more oil is being shipped via train.

Yesterday, five people were arrested in oil train protest at the Everett rail yard.

I always wonder how many of these eco-protestors walked, or rode their bikes to the protest sites?

If they didn't, where do they expect to get the fuel for their vehicles, or the power for mass transit?

The Al Gore Seal of Approval

Do you wonder why the Democrats don't seem to be all that concerned about our collapsing foreign policy?

One reason is:  They're more afraid of climate change than head-hacking terrorists.

ISIS Strategy & Foreign Fighters

Unlike Our Dear Leader, ISIS does have a strategy.  True, ISIS's proclamations may seem like grandiose schemes, like establishing a Caliphate, which can be viewed in one map.

However, when such a group shows interest in things Bubonic Plague, those of us within the Ramparts of Civilization should be concerned.

The Plague researchers have also noticed our porous southern border and are making suggestions this be exploited

These concerns are compounded by the fact that thousands of ISIS fighters hold passports from western countries.  This means easy access through the Ramparts.

So, who are the next radical islamists?

Here's a breakdown of where the foreign fighters in Syria (at least) come from.

Breaking News: Second American Journalist Beheaded by ISIS

A video reportedly shows the beheading of reporter Steven Sotloff.

While Americans, and a whole lot of other people are being slaughtered, our State Department is more concerned about "not going to put any labels" on things like beheading journalists.

Russian-Sponsored JVs Attack Ukrainian Border Vessel

Another "JV" team made headlines a few days ago, when rebels fired on a Ukrainian border patrol vessel

Meanwhile, "madman" Putin is attempting to hold peace talks between "both sides."

US Embassy in Libya Under "Safe Keeping"

While we've been focused on ISIS in Iraq & Syria, along with the Russian "non-invasion" of Ukraine, Libyan Islamic militants strode into our abandoned embassy and held a pool party

Rest assured, the pool partiers claim the embassy compound is secure

As an aside:  I find it interesting the video on Townhall was taken down due to a copyright infringement claim by Libya.

Libya's descent into chaos and barbarism is just another sandtrap Obama's foreign policy ball lays buried in.
