Fracturing the Family

(Image by Gary Varvel on the Gaston Gazette)
A notable number of leftists are determined to put the It Takes A Village To Raise A Child proverb on "legalistic steroids."

Or to put it bluntly:  They're out to diminish the impact of the family, or even abolish the family altogether.

I know it sounds crazy, but for this Sunday post I've been reading the craziest articles on today's beleaguered families.

It all starts with Boy meets girl, or if the lawsuit in British Columbia, Canada, is successful, person meets person.

Then, if the happy couple reside in California, they can exchange vows as spouse and spouse

(Note:  The FOX News, and other source articles are nearly a year old, but this was just recently posted on Tea Party News Network).

Now if this same happy couple decides to raise a family, seen in some leftist eyes, they'll be giving their offspring an unfair advantage over less fortunate kids

Such an advantage of outcome is intolerable to self-proclaimed "social justice warriors" (SJWs).

Hence, their theoretical question--for now--is:  Is it time to abolish the family?

China's Island Building Program

While the Clintons connive their way back into the White House, and ISIS advances through Syria and Iraq, the Chinese Navy continues to build its "unsinkable aircraft carrier."

At a security conference in Singapore, the US Secretary of Defense called for an immediate halt to land reclamations in the South China Sea.

Oddly enough, the Chinese government isn't being too secretive about its intentions.  They even published a white paper outlining their strategy.

As if in response, the Pentagon also published a report to Congress about China's activity.

Defense News compared both papers and outlined China's ambitions.

Last year, the wargame Next War: Taiwan was published.

One of my on-line friends quipped there was no need to buy the game because we'll be living this reality soon enough.

"JV" Cheerleader in Seattle

(Image from:  The People's Cube)

The other day, one of my friends posted a link to a story about a woman journalism student moonlighting as an ISIS recruiter.

Or is she an ISIS recruiter moonlighting as a journalism student?

Either way, I was curious as to why this didn't make headlines in the local news, especially since the story broke a few weeks ago, mostly on American conservative sites and UK news agencies.

After scrolling through four pages on Google, I found a local snippet on KIRO-7 TV's website.

The picture on The Minority Report asks:  Is ISIS still a "JV" team to Obama?

Especially since us like-minded folks don't think the ISIS savages are anything to dismiss.

Dishonoring the Dead of Benghazi

(Image by Michael Ramirez on Strange Politics)

Yesterday was /Memorial Day

Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty all died in service of our country during the 2012 Benghazi Attack.

And as Hillary's e-mail scandal continues to grow...

...their dedication to duty continues to be dishonored by the perpetuation of lies, while the non-FOX NEWs media remain asleep...

...try to ignore the story...

...or actively engaged in spinning the scandal.

Mark Steyn explains why he's so disgusted by Obama's & Hillary's fake chumminess toward their "friend" Chris Wossname.

Hillary's Pre-Holiday Data Dump

Yesterday, the State Department released nearly 300 of Hillary's e-mails.

This allowed a couple of issues to come to light.

One:  That Hillary received sensitive information on her private e-mail account

And two:  State Department staffers sometimes blocked FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests.

The Clintons don't seem to be too concerned about these revelations.

Maybe because they think making $12-26 million for giving speeches is probably enough slush fund cushioning to soften any political blow.

Such as failing to disclose said $26 million.

And we'll probably be assured there are no strings attached to all this dough...

"Success" in a Burning World

The world is heating up--and it has nothing to do with the climate.

Yesterday, Obama's Media Minion assured us that defeating ISIS will take time.

Meanwhile, trouble is brewing on other fronts.

Nor is China the only authoritarian power flexing its muscle.  Russia closed NATO's cargo transit route to Afghanistan.  And there's a growing concern that the Bare-Chested Czar may launch an offensive against Ukraine this summer.

So when Our Dear Leader addressed the graduates of the US Coast Guard Academy, did he mention any of these looming threats?

Nope.

The Rout at Ramadi

While I was off for several days, Iraqi forces and civilians fled the ISIS onslaught on the key city of Ramadi, Anbar Province, Iraq.

The fall of Ramadi is being spun as a mere "setback."

True, there are setbacks, both major and minor, in war.

However, Obama's past comments, like "If you like your doctor, your can keep your doctor," along with the supposed "Redlines" against Syria's continued use of chemical weapons, doesn't exactly inspire confidence that ISIS's control of Ramadi will be a temporary one.

Yesterday, Obama's minions seemed to have regained their composure and were touting their ISIS strategy an overall success.

But ISIS won't be driven from the field by airstrikes alone.  The situation won't be remedied even if another 42,000 sorties are flown against ISIS.

Nor has ISIS's gains been limited to Iraq.  While Obama mouthpieces were explaining-away the "Setback at Ramadi," ISIS seized the ancient town of Palmyra, Syria

In the meantime, those of us fortunate enough to dwell behind the Ramparts of Civilization are left to ponder how Obama lost Ramadi.

The Story of Stephanoccio

A couple days ago we found out that a Minion from the Ministry of Truth failed to disclose the $75K he donated to the Clinton Slush Fund.

And as typical with leftists, Stephanoccio issued an apology--along with some subtle insults to anyone who criticizes his actions.

Peter Schweizer, author of the recent book Clinton Cash, wants a do-over of his interview on ABC.

While the debate over a news anchors donations flares-up, the Clintons raked-in $25M from speaking engagements.

This year though, Hillary doesn't seem all that interested in speaking to media types, whether there's strings attached, or not.

TACPs Tangle with Brass to Keep the A-10s

Congress and some US Air Force generals have discovered how much of an unruly lot my fellow TACPs can be.

In our collective professional opinion there's one aircraft that can perform Close Air Support (CAS) missions better than any airframe ever made:

The A-10 Thunderbolt_II.

Which, now that I think of it, I've only heard civilians refer to the aircraft as the "Thunderbolt."  To us former and current CAS Specialists it's more affectionately known as the "Warthog," or simply "Hog."

Now the Air Force, once again, wants to send what remaining A-10s we have to the boneyard.

But my TACP brethren aren't saluting smartly and saying "yes sir!"  Instead, they bypassed the brass and took the battle to Congress.

At least two generals considered active-duty members who support retaining our passel of Hogs to be insubordinate, and lacking a "sense of good order and discipline."

Disrupting good order and discipline is what my fellow TACPs love to do to our enemies on the battlefield.

We're more than happy to disrupt the shenanigans inside the Hallowed Halls of Political Power.

Baltimore Blame-isms

In the fallout of the rioting, VDH tried decoding the rules of Baltimore.

But if you don't want to read VDH's dissertation, then there's internet memes that explain perfectly what's going on in Baltimore.

No matter what explanations you come up with, one thing is certain:  The Baltimoron Rioters are only undermining their own foundation...

Bashing the "But Brigade" of Free Speech

For several days after the shooting in Garland, TX, the "But Brigade" tried telling the potential victims and us supporters to stay quiet and you'll be okay.  (As noted in Mark Steyn's article, these are the types that say, "I'm all for free speech, but...").

Some anchors and commentators on FOX News caved-in, with the notable exception of Megyn Kelly.  While even the Vatican Newspaper considered the Motoon exhibit "blasphemous."

The hypocrisy of the "lamestream media," was not lost on Derek Hunter in his  Last Temptation of the New York Times article.

Personally, I like getting along with as many people as possible.  I love living inside the Ramparts of Civilization.

Here, we have rules for civilized behavior.  If something offends you, you have three general choices:

1. Ignore it.
2. Laugh at it.
3. Respond in a civilized manner; such as picketing, holding counter-events, writing op-ed articles, etc.

Not with barbarous attempts of murder.

So until the jihadists, their wannabees and collaborators understand this, then I'm all-in defending our rights, no matter how "offensive" the PC Vampires deem them.

Otherwise, how much Islamic butt will we end up kissing?

Breaking the Poverty Cycle in Baltimore

Jonah Goldberg suggests that to break the cycle of poverty in Baltimore, it's necessary to fix the culture of poverty.

True, easier said than done.

But the Baltimoron Democrats have had half a decade to accomplish this.  (Correction 18 May 2015: I meant half-a-century, thanks to "Juvat" for spotting my error).

And what has been the net result of their misrule?

A toxic mix of crime, corruption, poverty and neglect that boiled over into rioting & looting over a perception--as yet to be proven in court--of lethal brutality by six police officers.

But Baltimore's State Attorney is being accused of incompetence, or ethical recklessness, or being over her head and catering to mob passions.

Meanwhile, Baltimore's poor will remain impoverished.

Bill's Got Bills

Like his "dead broke" wife, Bill Clinton defended his ginormous fees for his speaking gigs.

Of course, "mistakenly" reporting taxable income as tax-free donations could go a long way towards paying the bills Bill was complaining about.

Maybe some of these coins will help defray the cost...

Can't Call Thugs "Thugs"

The media and special interest groups don't just pander to terrorists (see yesterday's post).

They also cater to common criminals.

Sultan Knish dishes out the truth about Baltimore--its enablers, perpetrators and victims.

Meanwhile, Baltimore's beleaguered mayor had to "clarify" her comments about referring to the looters and vandals as thugs.

So even when cities are burning to the ground, and jihadists go on killing sprees over cartoons, we still can't call them names, lest we hurt their sensitive feelings.

But we can still laugh at them, and some politicians--for now.

Over the weekend, Powerline posted it's Week in Pictures--Mother's Day Edition.

Jihadis Attack Mohammed Art Exhibit in Texas

I heard about yesterday's shooting at the Mohammed Art Exhibit via Robert Spencer's Jihad Watch e-newsletter.

Thankfully, while a security guard was wounded in the leg, both jihadi-wannabees were killed by a quick-thinking police officer.

Then came the story that at least one of the now-dead shooters was brought before a federal court.

It seemed as if the echoes of the last shots didn't die down before the dhimmis media expressed more concern about the Mo'Toons than about their fellow citizens being attacked.

While across the pond, the UK Daily Mail blacked-out the Mo'Toons so as not to look like they're siding with their yahoo Yankee cousins.

I use to like Alisyn Camerota when she was on FOX News.  But now that she's been on CNN for a while, she apparently didn't mind tangling with Pamela Geller.

Nor is Ms. Camerota alone.

Mark Steyn called-out Doonesbury creator, Gary Trudeau, for being a contemptible man punching-down at his betters.

I stopped my sporadic following of Doonesbury completely, when Trudeau took swipes at "Joe the Plumber," for talking to Obama and asking him unscripted questions.

Finally, CAIR inserted itself into the media limelight and kinda-sort-of condemned the attack in Texas.

Well, at least events like this let us like-minded folks know who we can't count on when it comes to defending our freedom of speech, along with the rest of our rights.

America Rallied Behind "Baltimore Mom"

The ranks of the "Baltimoron Brick Throwing Brigade" dropped by one this week when his mom showed up and started smacking him offside his head

Baltimore's "Mother of the Year," later said she was trying to save her son's life.

Which goes to show you that there's moments of inspiration capable of uniting the Right and the Left, not to mention a dose of humor, in the direst of circumstances.

Unfortunately, when it comes to resolving, or better yet preventing civil unrest; the Right and Left still remain divided...

May Day Reminder

(Image from:  The People's Cube)

As Baltimore continues to burn, many cities have been gearing-up for another possible round of confrontations, this time with May Day protestors.

As with the Baltimore Mayor's initially apparent "space to destroy" sympathies...

On this May Day, I recommend we give the Socialist/Anarchist-admiring Democrats all the "space" possible every Election Day.

Space--as in--unchecked boxes by their names on the ballots.
