Confirmation Hearings

A couple of days ago, John Kerry sailed through the Senate confirmation hearings to become Hillary's successor at the State Department.

The Diplomad is, well, mad about the whole sordid state of affairs.
Meanwhile, Chuck Hagel, Our Dear Leader's pick for Secretary of Defense is getting a much-deserved grilling from GOP congressfolks.

What could be at stake?

VDH warns that war pops up like rust

So no matter how shiny Our Dear Leader wishes the world to be--the "usual suspects" will find a way of dirtying the place up.

Hillary's Hissy Fit

I've been away from the internet for over a week, due to work, travel and now a cold.  But just because I didn't get a chance to post, doesn't mean I didn't see or read about some of last week's bombshells in the news.

Appearing before Congress, Hillary Clinton threw down the What Difference Does it Make? Guantlet.  No one really picked it up and the Ministry of Truth applauded her chutzpah.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if one of Nixon's minions did the same during any part of the extensive Watergate hearings

Of course, Hillary, along with the rest of Obama's minions have a "(D)" at the end of their name, so the Ministry of Truth will declare all is well.

It's taken a week for The Diplomad to roll-in on this.

And leave it to Mark Steyn to tie Beyonce's lip-syncing the national anthem during Our Dear Leader's inauguration and Hillary's non-testimony to our on-going deficit issue

So what's next with "Benghazigate?"

Probably this:

So it's up to us like-minded folks to remember this:

Hopefully, it will make a difference in 2016.

Newsweak Prostrates Itself (Again)

(Image:  Latest cover of  Newsweek)

Since the 60s, many reporters were activist wolves in journalist sheepskins.  By the time the 2008 Presidential election got underway, the so-called journalists discarded their sheepskins.  Many of us now refer to the non-Fox-based media as Ministry of Truth.

As a prelude to our Dear Leader's second inauguration, Newsweek sings it's praise as The Second Coming

"Second Coming" or not, here's what Our Dear Leader had to say today during Inauguration 2.0
Even when Obama's second term expires, the nation will still have to contend with the Obama Machine

One commentator contends our newly re-elected president threw down the gauntlet against Liberty.

It's now mid-day and there's more Inaugural Festivities to follow.  I'm sure there'll be more commentaries on Obama's "Second Coming" day.  However, I'll be unable to cover the immediate conservative responses for the next few days.  So I'll leave you with Breitbart's on-going Inauguration Guide

Well, no matter how the dust settles within the next few days, at least it was nice to see and hear Beyonce perform the National Anthem.

2nd Amendment Blasts from the Past

(Image from:  Red Planet Cartoons)

As our nation prepares for Obama's second inauguration, I found myself thinking how our Dear Leader compares to our past presidents.  As if on que, a friend of mine e-mailed me a batch of quotes the Founding Fathers made regarding the 2nd Amendment.  I thought I'd re-post them here in the message's entirety:

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
- George Washington

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
- Benjamin Franklin

“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”
- Benjamin Franklin

“The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
- Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
- Thomas Jefferson

“I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”
- Thomas Jefferson

“Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.”
- John Adams

“To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.”
- George Mason (father of the Bill of Rights and The Virginia Declaration of Rights)

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms.”
- James Madison

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.”
- William Pitt

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
- Richard Henry Lee

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”
- Patrick Henry

“... arms ... discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property.... Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived the use of them.”
- Thomas Paine

“The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”
- Samuel Adams

My favorite quote is Thomas Paine's "Horrid mischief" comment.

And speaking of mischief:

Even Bill Clinton gets it--sort of

Bill of course, is speaking from a politically motivated perspective.  But hey, even the Founding Fathers recognized that a greater good would unfold if citizens were given the freedom to pursue their own self-interests.

A 13-year old article from Mark Steyn, writing about the plight of law-abiding British subjects, illustrates the possible shape of things to come in a dystopian future without the right to defend ourselves.

Sarah Palin almost was a vice-president and her Obamacare tie-in prediction back in 2009 is on the cusp of becoming an Orwellian reality.

Tyrants and Toddlers

A couple of days ago, Our Dear Leader unveiled his gun control proposals.  Several children, who sent letters pleading with him to stop gun violence and even gun purchases, were on stage to serve as a backdrop.

(Image of Obama's Gun Control Press Conference)

In recent history, tyrants have said they're working to ensure the safety of their nation's children, the future--and now with the climate change craze--to save the planet.

Here's some examples of Dear Leaders of the Past (and Present) with the kids they're supposedly working for

Of course, you won't find comments like this on the lamestream media.  No, they're too busy singing the Dear Leader's praises, like Bob Schieffer here.
(I happened to catch the episode of The Five where he said this)

And according to Obama's comedic sidekick, Joe Biden, the reason for the big push for gun control is "...we don't have time to enforce the laws we have."

The (Supposed) Gun Ban List and the Empire State's Gun Grabbing Law

A friend of mine posted "Obama's Gun Ban List" on Facebook, but cautioned not to be alarmist about it.

While true, it's also very hard to worry about what President Palpatine's minions in Congress have in mind, when Grand Moff Cuomo oversaw the implementation of the toughest gun control laws in the nation

So Cuomo and his cronies added another reason to call New York "The Empire State."

But as you might expect when a bill gets ram-roded through a legislature, there was one tiny provision the Elders of the Empire forgot.

Number of Gun Owners in The Lone Star State

Texas wasn't a state back in 1791, but the citizens of the Lone Star State certainly have taken a liking to the 2nd Amendment.  In the wake of the Journal News outing gun owners in NY, the Texas on the Potomac decided to post the post the names and addresses of Texan gun owners.

While certainly amusing, at the risk of stereo-typing, I'm sure this isn't too far from the truth.

O's Picks-of-the-Weak

A small uproar erupted this week over Our Dear Leader's picks for Secretaries of State and Defense.  Ironically, this has at least O Supporter, Alan Dershowitz, alarmed.  But as Richard Fernandez points out, such concern may be a case of:  Too little, too late

Comrade Karla rolled-in with this comment:

I've really wanted to believe this was hyperbole, but every action The One takes (nevermind what he says or claims) appears to back up a deep-seated desire to weaken the US as a global player.
Naturally, the result will be complete disaster, more (not less) instability. It's like reasoning that if you have fewer adults at day care, the children will behave better. That, and John "Palestine" Brennan with his "if we are nice, they'll love us" approach, and Hegel "let's recognize Hamas and end Iran sanctions."
I think Steve Hayes put it best on Brett Bair last night that Hegel has been dead wrong on nearly every major foreign policy initiative of the past decade (if not before).
I've said it before--at heart, Obama personifies the anti-nuke, anti-us 80s undergrad mentality (with about the same level of intellect).

Ever since the school massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, I've posted about the hue & cry raised by gun-grabbing liberals.  Infringing on the 2nd Amendment will be a disaster for freeborn citizens.  But as Roger Simon explains, an even bigger disaster will erupt beyond our shores, if our Anti-American president continues his plunge down the foreign policy rabbit hole.

Gun Ban By Decree?

Apparently, our Imperial President appears to already have forgotten about the 2nd Amendment.  Joe Bidden was blabbing to the lamestream media about the possible use of executive orders to implement gun control measures.

How far will O go?

According to Katie Pavlich, there won't be anything to stop Our Dear Leader from "going all the way."

But hey, at least members of the Ministry of Truth will get a free pass for brandishing contraband on the air...

Meanwhile, the Elders of the Emerald City announced the opening day of a political feel-good show, known as the gun buy back program.  At least it's not a gun buy back progrom--yet.

I wonder how many criminals will turn in their weapons?

Mark your calendars though, for the January 19th.  Second Amendment advocates are calling for a Gun Appreciation Day.

I'm wondering if this story will be:

a.  Ignored by the non-FOX News media.  Or,

b. Participants will be slandered by the same-said media, just like the Tea Partiers.

NY Taxpayers Getting the Shaft

It looks like some dolists are doling out tax payer money to establishments that provide more than the basic necessities.  Breitbart's Warren Todd Hudson explains how welfare money is being used at strip clubs and liquor stores

I guess it's a sign of the times, because with all the other gov'mint waste going on, I'm not at all surprised by this.

Dissappointed, of course, but not surprised.

Backlash from Outing Gun Owners Continues--On FOX

The Journal News remains in the social stewpot, but the only national network covering the story is Fox News.

Last night, Bill O'Reilly had this to say during his Talking Points.

Bernie Goldberg said the decision to post an interacitve map of law abiding gun owners was irresponsible.  That's putting it mildly.

Judge Jeanine rolled-in and asked:  It was legal to out gun owners, but was it right?

My response:  Hell no.

Unilateral Disarmament

It's been a week now since we crossed the Fiscal Rubicon.  It's still not certain if we'll survive economically or not.

Mark Steyn doesn't think so.  He brings up several disturbing facts about the 10 Hours of Savings our political ruling class supposedly achieved.

Unfortunately this isn't the only issue facing our nation.  Our Dear Leader is hell-bent on stripping us of our nuclear deterrent.  As I mentioned in my previous post--it's a dangerous world we live in.

What Obama & Co don't realize is that their using "superpower bipolar world" negotiating tools, when we no longer live in such a place anymore.  One of the players that is being overlooked is China.  Richard Fernandez gives us a dire warning about China's "Underground Great Wall," along with a host of other problems, in his Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dagger article.

The Nuke Age: Version 2.5

Richard Fernandez discusses our current nuke proliferation woes with his Nuclear Age Version 2.5 article.

The friend who e-mailed this to us, had some good insights to add:

One issue that seems common is that pundits and analysts look at potential nuclear crises from a pre-crisis mindset. That is, they look at options and consequences with a strong bias towards what is normal and accepted today, rather than how the world might react AFTER a catastrophic event. If a 9/11 attack can lead to a decade plus of wars, imagine what a nuclear attack on NYC or DC or any other city around the world might do. For example, a nuke in the US might drive the USG to demand nuclear disarmament by unstable countries, on pain of annihilation.

However, if I were one of these third-rate nuke powers, now is the time to double down on procuring weapons while the US is busy spending itself into oblivion and the President is feckless and weak, while Europe is in much the same shape, and powers like Russia and China are more interested in undermining the US than in their own longer-term interests.

Despite many of our misgivings about our current re-elected administration, let's hope we can weather this "new and improved" version of the Nuke Age, like our Cold Warriors managed to.

In the meantime, it looks like Iran will have some "irradiated teething problems" to deal with.

Fiscal Cliffery

Well, our political ruling class managed to avert the dreaded Fiscal Cliff.

Sort of.  Even the liberally-minded Seattle Times warns of the Fiscal Storm Clouds on the horizon.

Charles Krauthammer said this was a complete rout of the GOP.  It's hard to argue with the man.

In fact, Comrade Karla agrees:

I'm not surprised this is how it turned out, given how our system works (or doesn't work). The GOP needs to hold the Dems' feet to the fire on entitlement reform and spending cuts. But they've never really consistently done that in the past, so why would it change now?
To quote Mel Brooks (Governer LePtomaine), this deal was driven by their fervent desire to protect their "phoney baloney jobs."

Thomas Sowell even lambastes the Republican Party and says they deserved to loose (the 2012 election)

But not everyone is happy within the GOP ranks.  Another friend pointed out:

I also see that Drudge is running a poll on whether or not Boehner needs to go...it's 85% in favor last I checked.

So our new year may look something like this:

Guns for Me But Not For Thee

Hollywood A-Listers decided to "throw stones" about gun control with their Demand A Plan video.

They forgot about the glass mansions they live in and left themselves open to charges of hypocricy based on the movies they make. FOX News reported this issue today, as well as Mediaite.

Nor is this the only 2nd Amendment Story for the 2nd day of 2013. It appears as if the Journal News, you know, the rag that thought it was doing a "public service" by outing law-abiding gun owners; has hired a private security firm to protect it's facility. No doubt from law-abiding gun owners.

Ironically, the Russians understand what's at stake.

Too bad 52% of our own population doesn't.
Looking at the "big picture," VDH welcomes us to very, very scary times.

Happy New Year!

Well, the 2012 Election didn't pan out the way we wanted, the Obama Administration skated past the Benghazigate Scandal; and since the mass murder of 26 people in Newton, CT, the Democrats have declared it Open Season on law-abiding gun owners.

But we did survive the "Mayan Apacolypse," so that's something.

Anyway, hears to a better year in 2013 than 2012 ended up as.
