Surprise Windstorm Causes Christmas Tragedy

While on duty yesterday, the National Weather Service issued a Gale Warning and Wind Advisory for the Puget Sound area.  Winds were predicted to gust up to 35 knots.  Due to a convergence of low pressure, yesterday's wind gusts were 45-56 mph.  After the 3-hour storm, thousands were left without power.  Before my Christmas Dayshift ended we heard about the tragedy on Whidbey Island

Since I was on duty yesterday, the story of this girl's death hits me harder, than it would if I merely saw it on the news at home.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
