A Tale of Two Beheadings

Just over a dozen years ago, reporter Daniel Pearl was beheaded by Al-Qaeda jihadists in Pakistan. 

What have we done about, or at least learned about, the nature of our jihadist enemies since then?

Nothing really. 

We're still pandering to jihadi cultural sensitivities and glossing over the nature of the jihadi beast.  (Yes, even during Dubya's Administration).

Or to put it another way:  Smiling at the face of the tiger. 

What's especially frustrating is knowing that we had one of the "tiger cubs" in custody five years ago and released him.
