Better Back Then?

The tabulators at Rasmussen conducted a poll on who respondents thought was a better president:  Clinton or Obama?

 

Nearly two-thirds of those who responded said Clinton was a better president.

 

Color me not surprised.  I actually agree, even though I didn't care for either of the Clintons while they...I mean...he...was in office.

 

Nearly every president in my lifetime has had some sort of scandal erupted during their administration.

 

However, the not-so phony scandals that have brewed-up under Obama's watch dwarf any (all?) previous scandals (combined?).

 

And yet--Obama remains in office. 

 

Maybe Obamacare will prove to be "A Scandal Too Far."

Maybe things wouldn't be so bad if our neo-monarch and his courtiers weren't so incompetent.

King Barack pardoned us peasants by magnamously granting anyone who had their insurance cancelled to be allowed to keep it.

Not sure how that's all going to work out, although the led image should give you an indication.

Meanwhile, some members of our ruling class are either completely removed from reality, or are continuing to spread the Big Obamacare Lie.

Normally, it's classicist VDH who likes to invoke the image of Nemesis when discussing the hubris of our political ruling class.

Now Jonah Goldberg conjures the same image while enjoying the Obama Schadenfreudarama.

 

As Jonah states right off the bat, it is NOT funny that millions have lost their healthcare and even if they do regain it, it will be at a much higher cost.

 

I have to admit, I'd find it funny also to watch Obama and his fellow Democrats, along with their media enablers, flounder around over the Obamacare disaster--if people didn't actually believe the lies about how Obama "misspoke," or about "Republican sabotage."

 

But deservedly funny or not, they're still trying to "spin this turd," as Jon Stewart said last month on his Daily Show.  The latest WTF? moments came from yesterday's press conference.

 

Democrats though, don't find any of this amusing, while Diplomad points out that "responsibility" and "Obama" don't go together (not to mention the now panic-stricken Democrats in general).

 

Maybe next time they won't be so eager to pass the bill in order to find out what's in it.

 

 

Abe Lincoln--Democrat

 

Northeastern Illinois University has found itself in the center of a controversy, thanks to the internet.  One of it's building sports a plaque honoring President Abraham Lincoln--Democrat.

 

The plaque isn't new, but Comrade Karla had this to say:

 

It appears that back in 1905 or thereabouts the plaque was made—but I suspect there could have been similar motivations afoot, given the politics of the time.

 

By "similar motivations" he meant whitewashing, or wholesale rewriting of history for political/social purposes. 

A Big Lie like this, especially on a campus chock-full of potentially low-informed voters, may actually come to believe our 16th president was a Democrat, instead of the brand new Republican Party.

 

And if they believe that, then they may even fall for something like this:

Wreckage from the Obamacare crash continues to pile up.  The numbers are out and things don't look good for Team Obama:  100K Enrollees vs 5 Million Cancellations. 

And even among the hundred grand who supposedly enrolled, nearly 80K enrolled in the state-based exchanges. 

But numbers can be meaningless unless you compare it with something.  Townhall's Christine Rousselle came up with a 10 Things Bigger Than Obamacare List.

So, despite the horrendous Star Wars prequels, there are still more people claiming to be Jedi Knights than Obamacare enrollees.

You Don't Have to be Abducted by Aliens...

...to get the shaft.

 

I've often heard jokes about having to get a cavity search done by TSA agents while going through airport security.

 

However, Mark Steyn points out that it's no joke.  Police in New Mexico subjected two individuals to the ordeal, found nothing and the hospital sent at least one person a $6K bill.

 

Seriously though, the subtitle of Mark's article makes the point:

 

Too many of our rulers and their enforcers reflexively see the citizenry primarily as a threat.

...but no one's buying it.  And when I mean "no one," I mean even the non-FOX News agencies are buying Obama's BS.

I was watching a re-run of Red Eye last night and one of the guest panelists, I forget who he was, made this spot-on comment:

The president can bow and apologize to world leaders, but he won't bow and apologize to the American people.

Just like he's willing to negotiate with Iranians, but not Republicans.

Anyone really surprised by this?  But it looks like France is being the tough guy among the six major powers trying to curb Iran's nuke ambitions.

Typhoon Haiyan Devastates the Philippines

Yesterday Typhoon Bopha devastated much of the Philippines.  Nearly all the news agencies are speculating the death toll may be as high as 10,000.  We probably won't know the true scale of this disaster for several days, or even weeks.

Even though I work in emergency management, I still have trouble comprehending the magnitude of disasters such as this.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Philippine people as they recover and rebuild.
