Not-So-Poor Jihadi John

Well, it looks like the masked beheader, "Jihadi John," doesn't need to apply to the Jobs for Jihadis Program.

That's because he lived in an affluent London neighborhood.

This certainly fits the past--dare I say it:  Profile--of previous terrorists.

Foreign Funding for Hillary's Coffers

Well it looks like the Clintons are up to their old tricks.

I fear this will be just one of many stories ignored by leftist media outlets between now and Inauguration Day 2017.

Presidential Seal of Disapproval

Well after all the hoopla over Rudy Giuliani's accusation that Obama doesn't love America, Our Dear Leader proved this supposed love two days ago--by vetoing the Keystone XL Pipeline.

An engineer friend, (who's not a conservative), told me that the most efficient way of transporting a liquid is through a pipe.

However, Obama seems to think our current means of transporting oil is safe enough...

A Tangled Web the Governement is Weaving

While ISIS and Obama's lackluster response has been seizing the headlines, another story may soon be on the front pages tomorrow:  The implementation of "Obamacare for the Internet."

This of course, depends on how the five commissioners of the FCC will vote, but the Vegas odds are that the three Democrats will outvote the two Republicans and impose a 332-page set of regulations upon web users.

In other words:  Get ready for a government takeover of the internet.

I attached this cartoon in an e-mail response to friends, with my own caption:  "Ahead dial-up speed.  Engage!"

To be honest, my tech savviness equals the square root of jack.  So I don't know how this will affect us small-scale users.

But if the IRS "phony scandal" has taught me anything, it's to be wary of "unbiased government oversight."

Especially, since this particular blog of mine isn't what you'd call "leftist-friendly."

Of Praetorians and Appeasers

Last week, Former NYC Mayor, Rudy Giuliani made waves by stating Obama doesn't love America. The backlash was quick, even praetorians at the State Department got involved.

But Giuliani isn't backing down.

For us like-minded folks, "America's Mayor," didn't say anything surprising.  He was merely voicing our own misgivings about our Community Organizer in-Chief.

For example:  In the face of growing threats beyond the Ramparts of Civilization, Our Dear Leader is often compared to Neville Chamberlain.

But Mark Steyn wrote that such a comparison is an insult to the 20th Century's most notable appeaser.  And then reminds us near the end of his article:

We are at war with a depraved enemy, but we cannot be allowed to assert our moral superiority even to head-choppers, rapists, slavers and immolators.

And that's why Giuliani's criticism rings true.

The Burning Tide of Barbarism

And now we'll resume discussing the ever-growing grim news at hand...

Last week, Mark Steyn penned a pensive article about the re-primitivization of Planet Earth.

For those of us who are lucky--for the moment--we can indulge ourselves by reading history.

But then there's the unfortunate souls who are living--and dying--in unfolding events of today.

The Bright Side of Jobs for Jihadis

First order of business this week:  A dose of  humor...

Maybe, if we follow some of Nate Beeler's suggestions, this Jobs for Jihadis Program won't be so bad after all.

A Phony Faux-Pas Ignored by Networks

If you were to watch only ABC, NBC, or CBS, to get your news from, you would never know about Marie Harf's "Jobs for Jihadis" plan.  This is because these three networks skipped the story.

Apparently, such a "phony faux-pas" is not worth bothering their un-nuanced viewers over.

If You Can't Beat 'Em--Employ 'Em

Mari Harf, the State Department deputy spokeswoman, continues to peddle her "Jobs for Jihadis" idea.  She considers her logic too nuanced for critics to understand

There's been a barrage of backlash to Harf's inane comments.

Ah, where to begin?

Ken Blackwell asks are we giving-out  shovel-ready jobs for beheaders?

Erik Erickson reminds us that western elites often fail to confront evil.

But, according to Jonah Goldberg, there may be a silver lining to the latest Obama buffoonery, other than giving us the catchy phrase of "Jobs for Jihadis."  That is, by continually making denials about the Islamic nature of Islamic terrorism is forcing people to discuss the issue.

What I also find faintly heartening is the oft-cited article by Graeme Wood, What ISIS Really Wants is getting a lot of attention, even by the left.

Our Selfie Taker-in-Chief

The day before Valentine's Day, liberals were distracted from the burning world, and laughed at our Golfer-in-Chief's selfie promo of Obamacare.  (Although I've noted at least half the comments are not complimentary).

Michael Goodwin warns us of the consequences of having a president so selfie absorbed.

One of our favorite commentators, VDH, also warns of a reckoning to come.

Even though President's Day is three days past, Obama's selfie mold has been cast...

US State Department Employment Plan for Terrorists

While the Egyptian Air Force was bombing ISIS positions in Libya, US State Department spokeswoman, Marie Harf, came up with an alternative strategy:  Help Muslim countries build their economies so the terrorist wannabees have better job opportunities.

There's just one critical flaw in her plan.

Contrary to what her boss in the Oval Office thinks, the Islamic State is very much Islamic

The American public is taking notice and the disapproval rating of Obama's handling of ISIS is climbing.

So much for pursuing these savages...

ISIS Conducts Mass Beheadings of Christians

Two days ago another ISIS execution video made headlines.  This time, 21 Coptic Christians were beheaded on a Libyan beach.

The Christian victims were also Egyptian, and within hours of the video's release, Egypt responded with airstrikes against ISIS positions.

British Prime Minister, David Cameron, and his Canadian counterpart, Stephan Harper, condemned mass murder of the Coptic Christians.

But what did our White House say?

Of course, Our Dear Leader's speech writer/press secretary condemned the murders, but did not acknowledge that the victims were Christians.

While this may seem like a trivial point, Mark Steyn points out that when you lie about the nature and motivation of our Islamist enemies, you end up having to lie about everything else.

Valentine's Day Shooting in Denmark

(Image from:  WRDW)

While I was out and about this weekend celebrating Valentine's Day, something went rotten in Denmark.

(Image from:  BBC Europe)

Two shootings occurred in Copenhagen within hours of each other on Valentine's Day. Then in the predawn hours the following day, the suspect, who's name has not been released yet, was shot and killed by Danish police.

But what kind of criminal past, and what gang did he belong to has not yet been revealed at the time I'm writing this.

While depressing, this head-in-the-sand mentality isn't surprising.  (See my previous post).

Well, there's at least two folks who are willing to give the perp's motive their best guess.

While Mark Steyn took a look at the broader implications of a declining west/societal suicide in The Morning After.

The Danish leaders are following in the footsteps of their French counterparts--ignoring the nature of the threat they face.

Presidential Priorities

On this Presidents Day, let's take a look at what the current occupier of the Oval Office thinks about terrorism:  The media overstates the terror threat as opposed to the long-term problem of climate change.

Our Dear Leader's view of terrorism falls in line with his "Crusades-Slavery-Jim Crow" comment he made during the National Prayer Breakfast.

I wonder where we'd be as a nation if George Washington felt the defeat at the Battle of Brooklyn Heights was overstated; or if Abe Lincoln thought "...a house divided..." could stand after all.

Meanwhile, in Copenhagen...(see subsequent post)...

Tyrannical Britannia?

I haven't seen the movie V for Vendetta, nor despite my love of comics, read the graphic novel, which the film was based on.

I guess the idea of "Merry Old England" turning into a police state is too hard for me to bear.

However, in light of Mark Steyn's The Last of England article, maybe I should read-up/watch what the future might hold for our cousins across the pond--and maybe for us Yanks too--if we're not vigilant in protecting our rights as American Citizens/British Subjects.

Iraq: Third Time's the Charm?

Here's another Obama "success" in the making:  20,000 foreign fighters flock to the middle east to join ISIS

But fear not.  Our Dear Leader has asked Congress for a war powers resolution to combat the Islamic State--but without ground troops and with a built-in three-year exit strategy.  (I've grown to hate the term "exit strategy" with a passion).

Despite such stringent limitations, Obama confidently claimed ISIS is "...on the defensive."

I sincerely hope Obama's plan can truly "degrade and destroy" ISIS as he claims he wants to do.

But with "successes" like Iraq and Afghanistan...

...not to mention Yemen, that I posted about yesterday, let's just say my confidence isn't very high.

Happy Valentines Day!

The Yemeni Domino

Well, Our Dear Leader's "success" in Yemen wilted in the face of the Islamist takeover.

As Yemen fell apart, US Marines were forced to destroy their weapons while the US Embassy was evacuated

Marine Corps spokesfolks are adamantly denying their Marines surrendered their weapons to the terrorists calling themselves "Houthis."

I find no consolation in this.  Disarming, either by giving up, or destroying weapons, in the face of the enemy means one thing--surrender.

I also find it curious that I couldn't find any images, or videos, of the actual evacuation.  No stark images like this...

(Image from:  Frontpage Mag)

...that Valerie Jarrett wouldn't approve of, lest it taint the image of Our Dear Leader's "success."

I can only imagine how tough it must have been for the Marines assigned to the now-former US Embassy in Yemen to destroy their weapons.

Number Crunching the Crusades

(Image from:  Adam West's Facebook Page

Commentators are still talking about Our Dear Leader's "...terrible deeds in the name of Christ..." comments at last week's National Prayer Breakfast.

Regarding the Crusades, Ralph Peters puts the score at:  Jihadis-14, Crusaders-2 in terms of the number of centuries waging war.

It's one thing to discuss the atrocities of the past--of any country, even ours.  However, like most other conservatives, it really irks me when leftists attempt to lay a guilt trip on us for transgressions that no one currently alive committed.

One of my failings is that I can't always remember facts at the spur-of-the-moment.  So I was delighted to find this timeline online.

Maybe I should print a copy and keep it handy.

Of Terrorists and Crusaders

While Our Dear Leader lectured us on the Crusades, Linda Chavez warned us the barbarians are at the gate.

Mark Steyn went one step further and explained how the glamor of evil manages to win a steady stream of recruits.

And what about The Crusades anyway?

(Image gleaned from:  How the Crusades Saved Europe and America)

A.J. Delgado wrote The Crusades are nothing which we need to apologize for.

While Dan Goldberg points out Obama's faulty logic in comparing radical Islam with Christianity.

Finally, Harris Faulkner asks:  Obama says "Christian Crusades," but why can't he say "radical Islam?"

Why indeed.

Probably because Obama's working off a different template...

Brian Williams' Big Lie

A couple of days ago, NBC News anchorman Brian Williams was finally caught in a 12 year old lie.

Williams has apologized for "mis-remembering," but it begs the question:  What else has he lied about/"misremembered?"

But no matter what happens as a result of this, Big Lie Brian can count on at least one friend in the media biz.

It's also coming to light Big Lie Brian's helicopter ride isn't the only fib he's told, and his career may be in freefall.

The Narcisstic Roots of Appeasement

(Image:  King Abdullah II of Jordan compared to Obama)

VDH explains how appeasers are narcissists.

When Our Dear Leader isn't appeasing tyrants and terrorists, he's lecturing us about the Crusades, the Inquisition and Jim Crow Laws.

Of course, Obama just happened to forget that Jim Crow Laws were concocted by Southern Democrats during the Reconstruction Period.

ISIS Video Tapes It's Barbarity

While I was away on jury duty, the savages of the Islamic State (aka ISIS/ISIL) were busy displaying their new level of barbarity.

A couple days ago, a video was released showing how ISIS fiends executed a captured Jordanian pilot--by burning him alive.

Prior to this, ISIS posted a video of the beheading of it's second Japanese hostage.

Meanwhile, Jordan responded in Old-Testament style by executing two ISIS prisoners

Nor did the Hashemite Kingdom limit it's retaliation to offing a couple of Islamic terrorists.  Earlier today, 20 F-16s struck various ISIS targets, then did a fly-by tribute over Lt al-Kasaesbah's hometown

There's talk of more military action to follow.  I'd certainly like to see the Jordanian military "unleash hell" upon these savages.

New England Edges Past the Seahawks in Superbowl XLIX

The New England Patriots snatched victory from the beaks of the Seahawks, thanks to a last-minute interception.

Highlights of Superbowl XLIX can be seen in the photo gallery.

Despite the outcome, I enjoyed watching the game.

Congratulations New England fans.

Watch Mojo has been known on YouTube for it's Top 10 Countdowns of entertainment, gaming and pop culture material.

Apparently it looks like they've branched out into current events.  This installment, #11, discusses Boko Haram.
