Savages on Speed Dial

(Image:  A Taliban spokesman talking to the press, 2000)
Some people here in civilization think its okay to negotiate with savages.  Even after they behead 17 people for merely attending a dance.
In addition to the mass execution, I was also alarmed a this statement:
The Taliban spokesman for southern Afghanistan could not be reached for comment.
Do news agencies have the Taliban on their speed dials?
"For inquiries about honor killings, press 1..."
One of my friends made this Footloose observation:
There is no Afghan Kevin Bacon gonna fight for the right to dance, methinks.
Sadly, methinks he is right.

Destructive Fire in Central Washington State

(Image from:  The Seattle Times Photo Gallery)

The "Taylor Bridge Fire" that broke out on 13 August, is now 40% contained.  When I was on duty a couple days ago, the national networks like FOX News, were covering the story.  Here's today's video with Martha Maccullum.

We're hoping the fire will be fully contained before the weekend is over.

Local Anchorwoman Passes Away

Kathi Goertzen, a long-time anchorwoman for KOMO 4 News died today.  From what little I've seen of Kathi, she always struck me as pleasant and charming.

RIP Kathi.

Gaffe? What Gaffe?

The Paleostinians and their American liberal apologists are all in an uproar over some comments Mitt Romney made during his overseas sojourn.  Elliot Abrams, rolls-in on this issue with an article in the NRO.

The same terrain is occupied by different cultures. One of my coworkers, who did a number of tours in Israel and Lebanon, said you can tell where Israel's borders end at 30,000 feet. Inside the "Zionist Entity," the land in green and fertile. Beyond the borders its brown and desolate.

I wonder what the PC-leaden excuse will be for this "gaffe."

More Dear Leader Myth-Making?

I'm having a hard time believing this story that Obama is now the descendent Colonial America's first slave.

Primarily because of all the fabrications coming to light about in his book Dreams of My Father.  News agencies use to investigate presidential candidates.  In 2008, the news outlets illustrated in the above image became PR agencies for the Obama campaign.

And they're at it again for the 2012 election.  Notice this...

versus this...

...especially since several weeks ago, Mitt was smeared as a homophobic bully in his youth.

And don't forget, if you criticize Our Dear Leader, you're dumb (or racist, or both):
