POS Formally Charged

(Mugshot of James Holmes)

While I was at a writers conference a couple of weeks ago, POS (Piece of "Crap") James Holmes conducted his mass-murder attack inside a movie theater in Aurora, CO.  Today, he was charged with  142 criminal acts.

Of course, it didn't take this long for libtard politicians to squeal about gun control.  Mark Steyn rolled-in on Nanny Bloomberg's comments.  A lot of hyperventilating about gun control comes from the misconception about "military-style weapons.  John Lott Jr., attempts to diffuse this issue in his NRO article.

I'm afraid though, Mr. Lott may be preaching to the choir and that liberals will continue to demand a ban on "scary weapons," as Comrade Karla would say, despite the facts.

Regarding the article itself, the good comrade had this to say:

This one nails it—I recall the mindless “debate” back in the 90s about this.  My brother told me the biggest problem firearm in Denver at the time were trashy little 9mm Tec-9s and .25 auto pistols (faves of the gang-bangers because they were easy to conceal).  Not “AK-47s.” It’s pretty obvious that for libs, if it “looks scary” it should be banned.

It's Not About Gay Marriage...

(Protesters in Denver CO)

...it's about freedom from State coercion.

A week or so back, the CEO of Chick-fil-a ran afoul of liberal orthodoxy, when he made a public comment about his views on traditional marriage.  So much liberal ire has been raised that a couple of politicians have already threatened they'll deny permits for any franchise within their fiefdoms.

On the other hand, it's okay for those of an islamic persuasion to hold even sterner views, as Mark Steyn points out.

So remember...

For Once, I Agree w/Harry

Normally, my feelings towards Harry Reid coincide with the above de-motivational poster.  However, this week's stir over the US Olympic uniforms, ironically made in China, has me agreeing with him.

For once.

Meanwhile, Hot Air makes a concession or two, but still hammers Reid's "faux patriotism."  The article also points out that 98% of clothing purchased in the US is made elsewhere, something one of my on-line friends commented about:

...they would have been a lot cheaper if they were made in Vietnam or Sri Lanka...

But whether the uniforms bear the "Made in the USA" label, a number of folks aren't too keen on the style, like Comrade Karla:

They look silly, though. Unless you’re Inspector Clouseau.

From Independence Day to Dependence Daze

While I spent an enjoyable day yesterday with family and friends, Diana West gives us something to think about in her Happy Dependence Day article.

Meanwhile, Walter Russell Mead decided our Declaration of Independence needed to be fixed.
