Coating Islamism with Political Correctness

I love Bare Naked Islam's by-line: It isn't Islamophobia when the really ARE trying to kill you.

I also love the motto on the hat pictured above.  It's not hard being "Islamophobic" when you read headlines today's headlines about the Iranian pastor sentenced to death--for being Christian.  Here's the story in the International Business Times.

One friend reacted to this with:

...I hear they plan on hanging him instead of stoning him to death as a demonstration of the increasingly progressive nature of their society...

Then Comrade Karla found this article by Robert Spencer, on why a rational fear of islamism is a good thing, in this NRO article.  Or as the the good comrade said:  More on attempts to criminalize criticism of the ROP [Religion of Peace].

In addition to the usual suspects of Islamist front-organizations, the cry of "Islamophobia" often comes from the lame-stream media.  We're often bombarded with images and stories like this:

Pamela Geller has been researching the Islamization of Journalism schools for years.  She covers this phenomena on her Atlas Shrugs blog.  Her recent posts were uploaded on 19 Sep 2011 and today (30 Sep 2011).  Today's posting was piggy-backed from Judith Miller's op-ed on FoxNews.com.

My favorite key phrase:  Motive matters.

It certainly does.

Another One Bites the Dust...

Today got off to a good start.  I woke up and turned on Fox and Friends, to learn Anwar Al-Awlaki was killed in Yemen.  Five hours later, this is still the top story, with all the news agencies talking about it.  Here's the latest from FOX News and Yahoo News.

This happy news spurred instant responsed from my friends:

That's the best news on the terrorism front since UBL descended to the 9th circle of Hell!

0 hit points, the both of 'em...

Next up: Adam Gadahn!

He'll be harder to get rid of, particularly if he's still hiding in CONUS [Continental United States] somewhere.

Gadahn? No, Gadahn nee Pearlman is in AFPAK somewhere with his boys and goats. Still, I'd love to see him captured and see if DOJ applied the death penalty to him for treason (he's the first in 50 years or so indicted for treason).

Ah, good. That makes it much easier. Doubt they'll try to capture him, though. JDAMing or Hellfiring seems easier. Besides, you just know the usual suspects would crawl out of the woodwork to defend this guy and some idiot judge (or jury) would screw it up.

Oh, I know -- that's why I'd like to see how it played out. But I agree he is far more likely to be turned into mincemeat by a drone strike.

Mincemeat, or maybe fish food, like this:

Back on dry land, I LOVE this epitath:

May scores of wild pigs mate over his grave.

Smoking Gun in Operation Fast & Furious

The Fast and Furious scandal continues to unravel, not that anyone would notice if it weren't for FOX News, the Daily Post and other conservative-ish news agencies.  The remainder of the lame-stream journalists are acting like this...

Michael Walsh, has the story in today's NY Post

Personally, I think this is a bigger and more horrendous scandal than the Solyndra one.  In response to today's story, my friends had the following to say:

But this is obviously not news to the MSM, who went bonkers when Bush fired some attorneys who "serve at the pleasure of the president."

Why this scandal is not front page news daily is beyond me.  Bigwigs have toppled on far less than this.

(Like sexting a hottie-not-his-wife, maybe?)
Anything threatening The One is to be ignored by the MSM is my guess.  It's quite blatant. It'll be interesting to see what historians make of this in future decades.

Provided historical research isn't administered by the Ministry of Truth...

Missing SAMs in Libya

(Image from:  The Argentina Star)

The chaos in Libya may have far-reacing consequences.  According to this article in ABC's Blotter, thousands of shoulder-fired surface-to-air (SAM) missiles have "gone missing."  Our primary concern is having these missiles fall into the hands of terrorists to be used against civilian airliners.

Wayward Hikers Returned

The two hiker dudes were freed from Iranian prison the other day and are now back in USA.  You know the same America Michelle Obama hasn't been proud of, until her hubby got elected.  The trio of hikers, pictured above are cut from similar cloth.  One of them, Bauer, admitted they all oppose US policies towards Iran.  His comment is nestled within the story as told by Yahoo News.

One of them, (I'm not sure who), goes as far to say their capture was in response to our terrorist prison in Guantanamo Bay (aka "Gitmo").  The press conference containing this bit o' logic can be seen via Theodore's World.

As an American, I'm glad my fellow citizens are free. However, I'm not overjoyed.  I mean, what kind of morons are they to go traipsing around the Iranian border?

My friends had the following comments:

I’m thinking it was more “Iran held you because you showed exceedingly poor judgment.” (Not because you're American).

I’m thinking more like equal parts of the two.

They’re also a couple of Blame America Firsters, so I’m not particularly impressed with either their logic or worried overmuch about their fate.

Yeah. The money paid to have them released would have been better spent reducing the national debt…

Here's a comment I really love:

It's one thing to land in the Ocean of Reality. It is quite another to refuse to acknowledge that one is even wet....

My $0.02 among the e-mail exchange was this:

""Many times, too many times, we heard the screams of other prisoners being beaten and there was nothing we could do to help them," Fattal said."
Tsk. That's really a shame the other prisoners were beaten because "...U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility.

I Know How She Feels.

(Image from:  Shoe, 23 Sep 11, by Chris Cassatt, Gary Brookins & Susie MacNelly)

While I enjoy reading current events, as a part-time blogger, it's hard to keep up with all that's going on.  Especially on days when I'm away from my computer and more importantly, since 99.99% of the news is so depressing.

So during my days off the only commentator I read is Mark Steyn.  While his assessments on the sad state of affairs is gloomy, at least he mixes it with a dose of humor to make bearing the news more tolerable.  Today, Mark discusses the upcoming global economic meltown in OC Register.

Who's Winning the GWOT?

The firey lads, pictured above seem pretty confident in the eventual outcome of the "Global War On Terror," or whatever it's called.

Even after the recent demise of Osama Bin Laden, jihadis the world over are still convinced they're on the winning side.

But what's the best approach?

Ten years after the 9/11 attacks, the islamic terror networks appear to have down-shifted to a "stealth jihad," as described in this article by Mark Steyn.

"We've Analyzed Their Attack..."

(Image from: Star Wars--Episode IV, A New Hope)

One of my friends posted this interesting editorial from The Chicago Tribune by Steve Chapman.  He also included quotes from this famous scene in Star Wars.  I've copied part of it here, because I find it strangely appropriate.

In additon to the Star Wars reference, here's his intro, which I think is spot-on:

...While on the surface that [Obama bowing out] sounds great, I would bet any amount of money that, if he did drop out, Hilary would run, and she would trounce any GOP competitor currently in the running.  I don't see this happening at the moment, but he could have an LBJ moment quite easily...

Another friend chimed in with:

I found it particularly telling as well that it came from the Chicago Tribune. Talk about rats fleeing a sinking ship.

My Star Wars friend later sent us a couple articles from Verum Serum, regarding the latest assault on Obama's popularity--"Solyndragate."

The first, comments on George Kaiser's possible involvment in the scandal.  While the second, rolls-in on Michael Grunwald's defense of Our Dear Leader.

Where's Muamar?

Libyan rebels are closing-in on the city of Sirte, the birthplace of their former president-for-life.  NATO continues it's "kinetic military operations," in support of the rebels, but their "mandate" is about to expire, according to this article in The Guardian.

I e-mailed the friend who sent me this article and told him that I'd never thought I'd see America and Europe stupidly base military operations, kinetic or otherwise, on "mandates" and "exit strategies."

You wage war until your enemy is defeated--the "old-school" way.

"Racist" Tykes in UK Database

While Obama's henchmen scour the internet for smears against Our Dear Leader, via AttackWatch, Her Majesty's Government is busy putting little tykes in a database for name-calling.  Apparently, even calling someone a "broccoli head" is verboten, according to The Daily Mail.

We used far worse words against each other, when I was a kid.  The "n-word" was still in-use, but being actively stamped out.  (Although music by gangsta rappers is liberally laced with "the n-word").  Being of Polish descent, though, I heard a lot of Polock jokes.  Calling someone a fag or retard was common.

Comrade Karla made this sweeping observation:

Alas, this is the face of the "new Britain." This crap has been going on for a decade or more.

While another friend made this excellent point in getting around Her Majesty's Thought Police:
That's okay, I imagine if somebody wants to hurl and insult and get away with he could just call someone a filthy Jew or something like that and then claim that he didn't really mean it, he's just so frustrated over how the poor Palestinians are getting treated.

$1/2 Billion on Hope & Change

The Solyndra Scandal continues, at least on FOX News.  Mark Steyn rolls-in on how much green it costs to creat "green jobs" in his latest article in The Orange County Register.

On an artistic note, this scandal is the first one I've seen that's spawned identical political cartoons.  Below is Beeler's version:

AttackWatch Backfire

Well it didn't take long for AttackWatch.com to come under attack.  Misfit Politics came up with this YouTube commercial.

Hot Air posted an article with links to several other sites commenting on our Dear Leader's neo-gestapo snitch program.

Meanwhile, The Daily Caller found itself in AttackWatch's crosshairs.

Naturally, this story didn't get much traction with the lame-stream media/Ministry of Truth...

Now Weiner Has Something Else to Cry About

Another crack appeared in Good Ship Hope&Change.  Weiner's congressional seat went to a Republican, something that hasn't happened since 1923.  Not only did FOX News report this as a rebuke of Obama's policies, but so did Yahoo News, via AP.

Shedding Light on a Green Deal

While our Dear Leader's handlers set up their Stasi-like Attack Watch, a benefactor of $528 million Obama Bucks, from the stimulus package...

...filed for bankruptcy back in August.  Now, according to SFGate, Solyndra execs have been ordered to testify before Congress, while g-men (and g-gals) raid their offices.

The Orwellian States of Amerika

Our Dear Leader has taken us one step closer towards a police state.  Ulsterman on Socyberty comments on Obama's "anti-smear" campaign.

But just don't take Ulsterman's word.  Attackwatch.com is our Dear Leader's disloyalty anti-smear reporting site.

This also drew the attention of FOX News.

In addition to the black and red color scheme, what I find particularly creepy in the Report an Attack page is the Attack Type window.  Among several choices there are:  "Public Statement" and "Forwarded E-Mail."  The source of these comments isn't limited to pundits and politicians--but ordinary citizens.

Never Forget

As we near the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack, some folks look back and claim our response was an over-reaction.

Nonsense!

To explain why, I'll leave it to Charles Krauthammer, who does a better job than I could in laying-out the reason for America's actions in this NRO article.

Unfortunately, 10 years after the attack, many Americans have gone from a "Let's Roll" attitude immortalized by Todd Beamer of United-93, into what Mark Steyn calls, Let's Roll-Over Mush.  I suggest watching Life Magazine's Most Powerful Photos of 9/11; or Blood of Heroes, part of the FDNYLodd Website.

Never forget.

Hometown Flood Continued

Broome County will most likely be reeling from the effects of this flood for years, according to this article in PressConnects.

I've been looking at photos posted the Flood of 2011 page on Facebook.  This has been the proverbial double-edged sword for me.  Unlike the 2006 Flood, I feel more connected to family & friends that are suffering from this ordeal.  But on the otherhand, I feel more depressed when I have to step away from Facebook.

My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to family and friends back home.

Making the Streets Safe...

...from Nerf Guns?

God Almighty! If I were I kid today, I'd be asking Santa for one of these babies pictured above.  When I was a kid we relied on cap guns and a rudimentary honor system to determine whether we were hit, or not.

Unfortunately for kids in Buffalo, NY, the wussification of America continues.  A group known as FATHERS (Fathers Armed Together to Help Educate Restore and Save) are in cahoots with a pizza joint to buy back toy guns from kids.

I first heard this story from a snippet on FOX NEWS's show The Five.  Going on-line, I found the story on Weasel Zippers.

Rob Port, posted this story on the Say Anything Blog, along with some intelligent comments on why this is such a stupid idea.

A friend made a couple keen observations:

A toy gun today, a real gun tomorrow...

From that logic we should stop buying kids stuffed animals because if you give your kid a teddy bear or a stuffed tiger he'll think that the real life versions of these beasts are soft and cuddly as opposed to large carniverous animals and whatever you do, don't get your kid a stuffed racoon because most of the wild ones have rabies.

So what will the FATHERS group do with the 100 or so toy guns? “We plan on burying them in the next six months,” Lane said. “We’re going to get a coffin and put the guns in the coffin, and we’re going to close that coffin and pray.

Where I come from that is called littering...

While Comrade Karla Sr found an opportunity to inject his sense of humor into the subject:

A rubber knife today, a machete tomorrow. A pin-up today, a porno movie tomorrow, a toy car today, a Volkswagen tomorrow. The list goes on and on.

Yeah, the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda probably grew up with a plethora of rubber knives.  Who knows what havoc they would have wrought if they grew up with Nerf Guns?
I know it is a matter of historic record that the Zulus gave their children rubber spears at a early age. That's why they were so bad ass.  And the Sioux gave their kids little bows with rubber arrows. If they hadn't done that the Little Bighorn might have had a very different result.

Local Union Clashes

In local news, longshoremen walked off the job the other day and clashed with police.  The Seattle Times has the story, along with a photo gallery.

Nor are longshoremen the only ones raising a ruckus.  As of now the City of Puyallup is dealing with teamsters demonstrating at a local Fred Meyer.  (No news on this incident yet).

Obama's Job Speech

(Image:  "Obamabingo")

Last night, Obama gave a speech before a joint session of Congress on how he's going to jump start the economy--again.  This time, our Dear Leader will do it for the low, low price of about $400 billion.  Most of us know Obama's catch-phrases by heart and someone with a wicked sense of humor came up with "Obamabingo," shown above.

Mark Steyn, from The Corner, conjurs up a vivid image of crinkling up a third of a trillion dollars and chucking into the Potomac River.

Meanwhile, Karl Rove presented a 12-word executive summary on Obama's speech on Fox News.

"Flashman" Comments on Britain's Decline

(Image:  Flash for Freedom! by Frank Frazetta)

Flashman's creator, George MacDonald Fraser rolls-in on political correctness in his last testament

This comment, near the end, struck a chord with me:

I was made aware that among the middle-aged and people in their 20s and 30s there is a groundswell of anger and frustration at the damage done to Britain by so-called reformers and dishonest politicians who hardly bother to conceal their contempt for the public's wishes.

I mentioned to my friends I've read other articles and polls, stating conservatives actually outnumber liberals.  But we're led to believe the opposite is true.  In response, one of them replied with a link to a speech Charlton Heston gave at Harvard in 1999:  Posted on American Rhetoric.

The common theme between these two pieces and from others I've read, is that true liberals are actually a minority.  Unfortunately, they have their hands on the levers of power.

To which another friend made this excellent observation:

The reason the left has many levers of power is that they see government as the solution for our woes, therefore their elites gravitate there while conservatives favor personal achievement, usually in business. Thus, we're stuck with them running many important aspects of society in numbers that do not reflect their true proportion in the population.

Others chimed-in:

Which leaves military service as an odd subset, instead of a reflection of society as a whole.  Where's Heinlein when you need him?

The blogger I've been loosely following called Ulsterman, who has occasionally interviews the "Washington Insider" (supposedly someone in the Obama White House) interviewed someone else who claimed that the Administration wants to try to unionize the military, apparently to try to turn a pro-GOP voting bloc into a pro-Dem one.  Now, I don't necessarily believe it's something they would try, given that it would fail miserably, but I can see the appeal to the Dems. Plus, some Euro-armies are unionized, so it's not unprecedented.  I do find it comforting that the military is the most respected insitution in the US while being one of the most conservative.

I recall some pretty harrowing photos in the 70s of the "unionized" Dutch army...they seem to have gotten away from the long hair and generally silly demeanor, though.  Increasingly I wonder what this admin won't stoop to. While I skipped the latest address to the Supreme Soviet, it was clearly more of the "do what I want my way or you're just an obstructor" nonsense. With lots of spending.  Media nonsense will no doubt ensue!

Hometown Flooded

My hometown, Binghamton, NY was hit by a flood earlier today and the Susquehanna River hasn't crested yet.  According to WBNG, 20,000 people have been evacuated.

Binghamton was hit by a flood in 2006 and folk are saying this one's worse.  I first found out about the flood from a friend on Facebook.  Since then Facebook has been my primary source of intel.  I wasn't on Facebook back in 06, so I'm overwhelmed by the photos I've seen online.

Can't Shoot Critters--Even When They Try to Kill You

I don't know about you folks, but I hope I never see a bear from this angle.  Apparently, the US Attorney in Idaho has been watching too many Coca-Cola commercials during the Holidays and think real bears act like this in the wild:

A few days ago, Michelle Malkin posted this story about Jeremy Hill, who shot a bear on his property and is now being charged in federal court.  At least Mr. Hill has high-powered allies on the state-level.  Hopefully they'll get this thrown out of court.

As Michelle mentioned in her post, this goes hand-in-hand with the War on Lemonade.  Mark Steyn comments on similar stories, observes that bloated bureaucracies, which are blind to common sense and decency, is a symptom of "the brokest nation on the planet."

Framing the Arguement Around Race

Andre Carson of the Congressional Black Caucus are trying to brand the Tea Party as racist.  We can expect another round of "if you don't vote for Obama, you're a racist," comments in the 2012 election.

Victor Davis Hanson, with his usual skill, dissassembles such remarks in NRO's The Corner.

Gulf States on Alert for Tropical Storm Lee

While millions of folks are still without power in the northeast, due to Hurricane Irene, the gulf coast residents are bracing themselves for Tropical Storm Lee.

9/11 Whitewashing

According to My Fox 9, Team Obama plans on watering-down Al-Qaida's role in the 9/11 attacks and turn the 10th anniversary commemoration into a program honoring "all victims of terrorism."

Mark Steyn often mentions libs "hijacking" commemorative days. References to WWI have pretty much been purged from Rememberance Day in Canada (our Veterans Day).

I doubt I'll be watching any of the so-called 9/11 ceremonies.
