The Polar Bears Ate Professor Jones' Homework...
One of the reasons why the raw data at the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit can't be found, is because Professor Phil Jones can't find his paperwork in the mess-that-passes-for-his-office:

Some of the comments triggered by this story:
The only people left who buy it are true-believing leftists and politicians...
I was in the office of a Harvard classics prof once, it was an absolute train wreck. He said that he and a couple of his grad students spent the whole weekend cleaning it.
It won't matter...AGW is a faith-based initiative, so I don't expect actual scientific evidence (or lack thereof) to shift the true believers, which would seem to include an awful lot of our political leaders and science community (who should know better). Sort of like a doctor advocating the use of leeches.

Climber Falls into Mount St. Helen's Crater
This incident kept both day and nightshift busy here at WA Emergency Management:
A helicopter from NAS (Naval Air Station) Whidbey Island made a rescue attempt this evening but had to turn back due to darkness and bad weather. They'll fly another mission tomorrow morning.

Snowpacolypse--The Sequel
Today another snowstorm hit the Mid-Atlantic states still buried under the snow left by last week's storm. This one-two punch broke several winter records:In an e-mail to friends, I speculated on when the jihadi websites will claim the the snowstorm was due to a malfunction of some American-Israeli weapon.
Olympic Security Service "...Knows Nussing..." Sees "Nussing"

On 28 January, a 15-year old girl was beaten unconscious at the Westlake Center Transit Tunnel. The guards, from Olympic Security Service adhered to their mission statement of observing and reporting. The security video finally emerged, which I saw on FOX's Hannity:
I believe Michelle Malkin coined the phrase "Cult of Passivity." It's outrageous to see such bovine passiveness extending to security services.

Norsemen vs Pirates
(Image from Fury of the Norsmen by Metagaming, 1981)I'm glad the Danes are on our side! The other day a Danish special ops team stormed aboard a ship in the process of being taken over by Somali pirates:
"Snowmaggedon" Hits "The Other Washington"
(Image of snowplows attempting to clear I-70, taken from the Washington Post)Yesterday several Mid-Atlantic states were hit by a powerful snowstorm, paralyzing our nation's capital and several other cities.
Some would argue Washington DC was already paralyzed without the all the snow, but that's a different matter all together.
Here's today's weather woes, right from the Washington Post:

Several of my friends on Facebook live within the affected areas and are hunkering down for the weekend. One said he was now looking for a "Donner Party movie."

Swapping One Addiction for Another...

Good news for Chocoholics everywhere! Peru is making plans to satisfy their cravings by switching from one cash crop to another:

So will the cacao plantation owners be called "Chocolate Lords?"
A Phallus By Any Other Name...
Apparently a Pakistani ambassador is too endowed to be posted in Arab speaking countries:http://blog.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2010/02/03/ambassador_at_very_large
From Comrade Karla:
We need to find some FSOs (Foreign Service Officers)/Ambassadors with similar names.
From Comrade Karla's dad:
Same thing happened when that Roman Emperor wanted to send that emissary named Bigus Dickus to Egypt.
Which provided me inspiration for this post's picture, from Monty Python's Life of Brian:

And if Mr Akbar Zeb is feeling a bit down for not getting any posting, maybe this little ditty will cheer him up:
