Socialism: The Overlooked Fact Sinking Venezuela

When I need an on-line break from the depressing daily news, I often check out Watch Mojo for their entertainment-based "Top 10 Countdowns."

A year or so ago, Watch Mojo branched out and started covering news.  The other day, their Top 10 Facts About the Venezuelan Crisis caught my eye.

They should have called it the "Top 11 Facts."  While the video provided some credible coverage, one fact was missing:  The socialist/dictatorial policies instituted by the late and un-lamented Hugo Chavez, and carried on by his successor Nicolas Maduro.

The most telling comments to the Watch Mojo video come from Venezuelans themselves.  Nearly all of them replied that things are far more worse than any foreign news agency has showed.

And their plight is about to become ruinous:  The inflation rate is projected to spike to 720-1200%.

Like any other despot, Maduro is now in Full Fuhrer Bunker Mode.  According to him it's the American gringos who are to blame for his failure.  He's even gone so far as to humanitarian aid simply because its coming from opposition groups.

Meanwhile, up here in Gringoland, we have Bolshevik Bernie still singing socialism's praises.

I'm always amazed--and baffle--by attempts to reinvigorate socialism/communism since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact.  The Venezuelan people are the most recent casualties of this definition of political insanity (trying the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result).
