Mark Steyn's "Greatest Hits" of 08

Right Wing News posted Mark Steyn's "Greatest Hits" 5 days ago:

Mr. is my favorite commentator because he has a way of putting a humorous spin on otherwise frightening, or at least depressing news.
In fact, his work landed him and his editor in trouble with the Canadian "Thought Police" of the Human Rights Commision.
His crime?
Citing a comment from a Norwegian imam stating something to the effect that "Muslims will breed like mosquitos" and thus take over Europe. Some Muslim readers took offense to this and filed a grievance. (Hence the "Wanted" poster). Mark and his editor pushed back citing such action was an infringement of free speech. Mark won, but has had to pay for his own legal defense.
While all the news stations are currently covering Ted Kennedy's funeral, Mark brings up a point none of the other media agencies have mentioned: Chappaquiddick.
A couple of days ago Mark noted that our sexual freedoms and what defines sexual norms have expanded. However every other type of freedom has been under increasing assault since the Sexual Revolution:

Ann Coulter's "Greatest Hits" of 08

Weekends tend to be a slow news day even for conservative commentators.

Rightwing news has compiled an "Ann Coulter's Greatest Hits" last month which I just came across.

I haven't read any of her books, so this is a good place to start reading in small doses:

Sometimes a Cigar is...

...an interrogation tool?

Apparently CIA torturers didn't get the memo that interrogation rooms are suppose to be smoke-free environments.

Blowing cigar smoke into detainees' faces is now on the Obamalist of "crimes against terrorists":

http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/article/53088

Comrade Karla's comments:

Those fiends! Next we'll find out the CIA was feeding them saturated fats!!!!

"Tell us what we want to know, or you will have to eat this entire package of twinkies!"

This wouldn't work on me. But if you gave me a box of Ding-Dongs then I'd be happy to tell you everything I know...

9 Trillion Reasons Why I Voted Against Obama...

Shortly after the Obamas jetted to Martha's Vineyard word got out on what the spending surge in Obamatitlements will cost: $9 Trillion.

A couple days ago Comrade Karla forwarded this "news" item on a color-coded warning system we all could use:

Obama Making it a Crime to Defend America

Monica Crowley commented on a FOX news show that Obama campaigned as a moderate. In every case since his inauguration, his radical roots have shown through the dye-job.

As Mark Steyn said in columns back, attempting to prosecute CIA interrogators is a step toward criminalizing politics--something banana republics do after every election or coup.

Here's the latest:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090825/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_cia_interrogations

I asked my on-line friends if Obama was now going to appoint an "Interrogation Czar."

Here's some of the message traffic regarding this new tidbit:

Comrade Karla:

Yes, we're going to "move on" and "go forward" and not "dwell on the past." Well, that only applies if you don't have a bunch of half-baked leftards in charge of the government. I fully expect stupidity on the scale of what happened in the 70s on this one, provided these morons manage to hold on to a majority in Congress or even the presidency.

Another friend put an historical spin on this:

Think the roman empire, the emperors had their own private army, [ praetorian guard ] spy system [ frumentarii ] and secret courts. These were personal instruments of the emperors to control the senatorial, and equities classes. Obama seems to have created his own separate governmental apparatus. Personal and powerful, while secret government, that is politically reliable to himself. he still may want his 250k man " armed as well as the military " civilian defense corps.

While another asked a very good question:

Is this all a ploy to distract America from the Health Care Issue? I wonder. First Obama says he wants to move ahead and not worry about this and now it's all brought back into the lime light. Or am I mistaken in thinking that it feel by the wayside?
I hate being a conspiracy theorist, but I have a hard time thinking of another good reason why we should be bring all this back up.

Meanwhile, Michelle Malkin isn't shedding any tears over the CIA threatening Khalid Sheik Mohammed's family:

Nor am I.

No Reality in Today's News

(From yesterday's Blondie comic strip by Dean Young and John Marshall)
Dagwood's right, there's very little reality in today's news stations. Many of the news outlets act more like Orwell's "Ministry of Truth."

What's Really Being Built?

Mark Steyn rolls-in to discuss Obamacare and the Stimulus Package.
Mark's been saying this for quite some time that the issue isn't really about healtcare, especially since no one in the political ruling class can explain the details, but a move to create a permanent left-of-center electorate.

The Fight Over Obamacare Still Rages

Moderate commentators think phrases like "death panels" (Sarah Palin) and "Nationalizing your body" (Mark Steyn) are too extreme.

Maybe so but they resonate very well among nearly 50% of Americans, especially among seniors who feel what care they have access to now will shrivel up.

Several days ago The Wall Street Journal posted a very even-handed article on what's wrong with "Obamacare" as it's come to be called:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203863204574344900152168372.html

(I found the article link yesterday on Laura Ingram's website).

Terrorist Receives a Hero's Welcome

(Photo of the remains of Pan Am Flight 103).

Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the only known suspect in the bombing of Pan Am Flight-103, was released and flown back to Libya on the grounds he was suffering from terminal prostate cancer.

Comrade Karla's comment: To bad he wasn't released somewhere over the North Sea.
Wikipedia has an extensive entry on the Lockerbie Bombing:

"Please Sir, Could I (Not) Have Some More?"

Trying to loose weight, but not making any progress?

The diets listed below all promise rapid weight loss. The only problem is--they don't work. Yet dieters perpetuate many of the beliefs listed in this "myth busting" article:

http://www.aolhealth.com/diet/basics/diet-myths

Here's some foods that may actually help:

The Fishy Market

Fish tossing at Pike Place Market in Seattle, WA.

In response to the White House's attempt to collect "fishy" e-mails for their "Ministry of Truth" at:

flag@whitehouse.gov

I'm starting a new section dedicated to informing readers of such breaches of our 1st Amendment by the Hopeychange Machine.

Welcome to the "Fishy Market!"

Several days ago FOX News ran one of the early stories regarding this story that won't conveniently go away for the White House:

If ratting-out fellow Americans isn't enough for some folks, Mark Steyn suggests other "websites" people can go to:
