Pacific Northwest Hot Spots

No, I'm not referring about the Seattle nightlife. I'm talking about the near-record breaking heatwave this area's experiencing.
True other parts of the country have been sweltering in summer heat for weeks or months by now. However, most homes here don't have air conditioning and on a usual summer day the temperatures usually peak in the high 80s by sunset. Then at night the temperatures often drop down to the mid-50s, which cools things off nicely.
For us home owners, the typical summer routine would be to open all the windows at night or early in the morning in order to let in the cool air. Then close the windows before heading to work in order to trap the cool air within our homes.
This works well if, as I mentioned earlier the temperatures get down into the 50s, or even 60s.
Last night the temperature was 75 degrees before sunrise--not enough to cool down the house.
Our scorching sunshine, however hasn't garnered any sympathy with anyone beyond Western Washington. (The eastern portion of the state gets baked just like the rest of the country during the summer season).
Today's new technology, such as Twitter, allows people and even the National Weather Service (NWS) to complain about the weather:
The heat wave is predicted through Thursday afternoon and tomorrow may set a new record-high temperature for Seattle:
